A Virtual Adoption is a monthly sponsorship that helps provide food, litter, medicine, and lifesaving veterinary care for the cats and kittens at Lucky Paws.
Every month, we take in sick, injured, abandoned, and at-risk cats from across Oʻahu. Many arrive needing medical treatment, special diets, or extended recovery before they are ready for adoption. Some stay with us longer than expected. All of them depend on steady support.
Your Virtual Adoption helps cover:
• Vaccines and deworming
• Spay/neuter and microchipping
• URI and infection treatment
• Emergency and specialty vet visits
• Food, litter, and daily daily care

After spending his entire life in a home, Charlie was relinquished when his owner could no longer manage his care. At the shelter, his diabetes went untreated, and he became gravely ill with Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) — a life-threatening condition that required intensive medical care to save his life.
But Charlie is resilient.
With proper insulin and consistent support, he stabilized beautifully. Today, he takes his morning insulin like a total professional and regulates himself remarkably well. He acclimates easily to home environments and thrives on affection, warmth, and steady companionship.

Rey’s story began inside a drainpipe at the old Ward Warehouse demolition site — rescued by a kind construction worker before her life could end before it truly began.
She came to Lucky Paws in rough shape and was diagnosed with FIP — a disease once considered fatal. For 84 days, Rey fought. With daily treatment, constant monitoring, and relentless dedication, she beat the odds.
Rey is a survivor.
Today, she is healthy, strong, and full of personality. We lovingly call her “Sweet Baby Rey” (yes, like the BBQ sauce) — because she’s got flavor. She’s a sassy pants with serious cattitude, spunk, and endless zoomies. She loves to climb high, dart across the room, and keep life interesting.
Rey was briefly adopted and did wonderfully in a home, but when her adopter faced a move, she was returned. Through no fault of her own, she’s once again waiting for the stability she deserves.
Beneath the sass is a deeply affectionate girl who bonds strongly with her people. She is living proof that resilience and compassion can completely transform a life.

When she’s happy, she truly lives up to her name. She’ll chirp, comment, and “talk story” with you like you’re her favorite roommate. One of the fastest ways to win her over? A good brushing. She loves it — and once you find her sweet spot, you’ll see that soft side come out.
